Variety reports that Portman will star in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Seth Grahame-Smith’s take on the Jane Austen classic.
In this version, which is said to be londer than the original, the story follows a young woman’s quest for love and independence when a deadly virus wreaks havoc and transforms the living dead into ruthless murderers.
Portman will play Elizabeth Bennet, who will have to fight the zombies. However, she will be distracted by the arrogant M. Darcy.
Portman will also produce the film with Annette Savitch, her HandsomeCharlie Films partner, along with Richard Kelly, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm of Darko Films.
Natalie Portman can now be seen on the big screen with Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire in the war drama Brothers. She will also be part of the cast of Your Highness, opening October 1, 2010. The actress is currently filming Black Swan with Vincent Cassel.
