Quebec Village Honours Christmas Traditions

The village of d’Antan is keeping Christmas traditions alive.

Once again, the Quebec village of d’Antan, near Drummondville, is gearing up for its annual old-fashioned Christmas celebrations. This year, the festivities will be held from December 21-23.

The villages serve up a traditional Quebec holiday feast with all the trimmings at the Relais d’Antan.

To tantalize your taste buds, the menu this year will feature tested and true favourites of Quebec holiday fare such as caribou, old-style pea soup as well as vegetable soup, traditional cretons, and classic fois gras. This will be followed by a savoury roast turkey and a hearty helping of meat pie, or meatballs in a ragu sauce for the non-turkey eaters. Of course, no holiday dinner would be complete without the Christmas log or everyone’s favourite, maple syrup. To burn off some calories, you can tap along to traditional Quebec folk music.

After dinner, a stroll through the charming village, filled with its festive charm, is simply magical. The local choir will be singing Christmas songs. For those looking for the quintessential d’Antan experience, a traditional Latin mass will be celebrated as well.
