Lenny Kravitz Not Replacing Steven Tyler

Lenny Kravitz says that he will not be filling Steven Tyler’s shoes as Aerosmith frontman.

Kravitz denied rumours that he would be replacing Tyler as the new lead singer for Aerosmith, and insists that the singer is irreplaceable.

Tyler quit the group earlier this year, announcing that he would be taking a two-year break. However, his band, who was eager to move forward without him, have since been on the lookout for a singer to replace the rocker. They plan to record an album and kick off a tour in 2010.

It seems that John Kalodner, who was behind the group’s comeback in 1980, recently advised Aerosmith members to quickly ink a deal with Kravitz to replace Tyler.

Although Kravitz admitted he was flattered by Kalodner’s comments, he is standing firm on his decision not to step in for Tyler. He stated, "As much as I am flattered that Aerosmith’s camp would consider me to front the band, Steven Tyler is a family friend, and no voice could ever take the place of his. I hope the band stays together. They are classic."

In November, the band members expressed their concerns for Tyler’s health after rumours arose that he had begun to party again.
