Destiny’s Child Settles Case

Destiny’s Child has reached a settlement with the person who filed the lawsuit against them.

The former members of the girl group, Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, managed to reach an amicable settlement regarding a copyright infringement lawsuit.

The trio were facing a suit concerning their 2004 song, Cater 2 U. Singer/songwriter Rickey Allen alleged that he inspired the song, and that he composed a song of the same name in the 90s.

In 2006, Allen filed suit against Destiny’s Child in Chicago, Illinois to obtain compensation. The three stars were expected to testify in front of a  judge this week. However, Knowles, Rowland and Williams, who split in 2005, opted to avoid a court appearance, preferring to settle out of court and behind closed doors.

Allen’s attorney stated, "I can confirm that yes, it (the case) did settle. All of the issues have been amicably resolved and the case is going to be dismissed."

Details regarding the settlement have not been revealed.

Singer Kelly Rowland has been far from pleased with the situation. Earlier, she pointed her finger at Beyoncé’s father for the lawsuit, claiming that his tactics to further his daughter’s career were to blame.
