Two Iconic Guitarists Performing in Montreal

Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck will be sharing the Bell Centre stage in February.

The news came about like an April Fool’s joke, as if it were too good to be true.

Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, two of the biggest guitarists of the past decades who have been able to fill out stadiums alone, have decided to unite their common passion for the guitar and offer their fans a true rock music treat.

The two legends will perform alongside each other at Montreal’s Bell Centre on February 22, 2010 after they do a show at the Toronto Air Canada Centre the night before. On February 18, they will give a show at New York’s Madison Square Garden, the only other show of their North American tour.

Ironically, Jeff Beck became popular through the group The Yardbirds in the mid-1960s when he replaced the then-blues purist, Eric Clapton, who had just quit in protest of the musical direction of the group.

Clapton proposed another unknown guitarist to replace him, Jimmy Page, who later became one of the leaders of Led Zeppelin. Page, while uncertain of his health, had in turn suggested Jeff Beck.
