The golf champion was hospitalised on Friday (November 27) after he crashed his car near his home.
Woods left his home around 2:25 AM. He first struck a fire hydrant before crashing into a tree on his neighbour’s property.
Though he was taken to a hospital, he was soon discharged and suffered only minor injuries.
Before the incident, the National Enquirer published a story that Woods had an affair with Rachel Uchitel in a New York nightclub. Many are now assuming that Woods had an altercation with his wife, Elin Nordegren, when he took off in his car.
Today (November 29) the golfer wrote on his Web site, "This situation is my fault and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again."
Woods added that it was a private matter, and he hoped to keep it that way. Speaking of his wife, he wrote, "The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false."
Apparently, Mrs. Woods used a golf club to help extricate her husband from the wreckage.
