Filming Wraps for Tintin

The first film of the Tintin trilogy is nearly complete.

Filming for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, directed by Steven Spielberg, has finished after the cast spent several months in New Zealand.

The news was confirmed by Peter Jackson, who is serving as the project’s producer.

Now the film is in the hands of the technology artists, who will spend the next two years working on the scenes. "Tintin is great. It’s made. The movie is cut together and now [we] are turning it into a fully-rendered film," Jackson told the BBC.

Although Jackson had some reservations with 3D technology, Tintin will be a three dimensional film.  The Lord of the Rings director added, "The only thing I get annoyed about is the image being a little dull. It does feel like you’re looking at the movie with sunglasses on."

Jamie Bell, who worked under the direction of Jackson in the film King Kong, will have the starring role.  The cast also includes Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Andy Serkis.  Serkis played Gollum in The Lord of the Rings.

Peter Jackson will be directing the second film of the Tintin franchise, and it is believed that Spielberg and Jackson will share the responsibility in the third film.  The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn will be released in theatres on December 23, 2011.
