The basketball player footed the funeral bill for the five-year-old girl from North Carolina whose kidnapping was plastered over the national media, reports the Globe and Mail.
The Fayetteville Observer of North Carolina reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers star was touched by the sad story of Shaniya Davis, whose funeral was attended by more than 2 000 people.
The young girl’s body was discovered on November 10 along a country road.
Her mother, Antoinette Davis, was accused of drug trafficking and child abuse, including child prostitution. A man named Mario McNeill is being charged on counts of murder, rape and kidnapping.
A funeral home was in charge of the procession for the young child and didn’t reveal the cost of the funeral.
