Susan Boyle Gives the Rolling Stones a Boost

Susan Boyle’s version of Wild Horses has prompted the Rolling Stones to re-release theirs.

The excitement surrounding Boyle’s X-Factor cover performance of Wild Horses, a Rolling Stones hit dating back to 1971, could have played a big part in the group’s re-packaging of their song.

The X-Factor show, which is a spin-off of its parent show, Britain’s Got Talent, is where Boyle went from anonymity to world fame under the scrutinizing eye of judges, including the ruthless Simon Cowell.

On Sunday (November 22), she was invited to sing her version of the Stones’ Wild Horses, which is the first song off her debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, and the performance was seen on yesterday’s X-Factor.

The digital material from the Rolling Stones includes their original 1971 song, a stripped down version of the song dating back to 1995 for the album Stripped, and a concert video of the song in 1976.

In this digital age, a rapid release of such material is possible, allowing groups like the Rolling Stones to get more mileage out of their songs.
