Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donated over 6.8 million dollars to works of charity in 2008.
This is double the amount they gave in 2007 on behalf of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
The main beneficiaries of the couple’s generosity were Global Health (2 million), Human Rights Watch (1 million ) and Make It Right Foundation, which is Pitt’s foundation that was given one million dollars to build houses for Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans.
In addition $500 000 was given to the US Army’s YMCA, $50 000 went to a public school in Springfield, Missouri, the actor’s home town, and nearly one million was donated to projects in Cambodia, their adopted 8-year-old son Maddox’s native country.
The Jolie-Pitts never hesitate to support good causes that aid children, especially when help goes to impoverished countries that they regularly visit for the United Nations. The couple is also known to strongly support human rights.
