Susan Boyle Sets a New Record

The pre-orders for Susan Boyle’s debut album have set a record at Amazon.

After breaking a record for pulling in the most YouTube viewers with footage from her Britain’s Got Talent show audition, the Scottish singer has hit another milestone in the history of Amazon pre-orders and its affiliate sites.

Her disc I Dreamed a Dream, which is headed for music shelves and online music retailers on November 23, has bumped Mr. Children’s Supermarket Fantasy, a 2008 disc with record sales on Amazon Japan, off the top spot.

This time, even though Boyle is from Scotland, America’s Amazon, not the Amazon in England, has garnered the most presale orders for I Dreamed a Dream.

Steve Barnett, the Chairman of Columbia Records, stated, "One of the things that is so unique about Susan Boyle is her ability to touch people around the world. We’re excited that ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ holds the new record for global pre-orders and that Amazon’s customers have supported her album in this way."
