The Who Sign Superbowl Deal

Britain’s The Who have inked a deal to perform at the next superbowl.

Last week, a rumour was started by Sports Illustrated magazine that The Who would be performing at the upcoming superbowl.  The American football championship is the most-watched television program each year.

The superbowl will take place on February 7 in Miami, Florida, and will air on CBS.  The half-time show is one of the highlights of the evening.  The television event also hosts some of the best commercials, and attracts some of the world’s biggest celebrities.

Paul McCartney entertained the crowd in 2005, followed by the Rolling Stones in 2006.  Sports Illustrated confirms that their earlier article was not just a rumour, but based on information from a source close to the event.  Now, with a signed contract, The Who are confirmed to ignite the stadium.

The Who, with their two remaining original members, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, will play to a television audience that usually exceeds a billion viewers worldwide.  Some of their classic hits, such as My Generation, Will Not Get Fooled Again, and Who Are You are expected to rock the house.
