A Jean Paul Gaultier Exposition

Jean Paul Gaultier will be the subject of a retrospective exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

The museum, which has already hosted an exhibition honouring Yves Saint Laurent, will be focusing on French designer Jean Paul Gaultier in the summer of 2011.

A display of the many creations of Gaultier will also help to mark the designer’s 35th year in the fashion industry.  The retrospective will be on display from June 17 until October 2, 2011.

Anne Eschapasse, an executive assistant in charge of exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts of Montreal, said that an exhibit dedicated to Gaultier made perfect sense.  The museum had previously done the same with designers Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent, who are both major influences for Gaultier.

The Gaultier exhibition will also build on the designer’s relationship with the music world.  The designer has created costumes for Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Marilyn Manson.  His creations were also used in films by Luc Besson, Jean Pierre Jeunet and Pedro Almodovar.

Jean Paul Gaultier has met with the Museum of Fine Arts, and is pleased with the plans, and added that he loves the city of Montreal.
