The former Genesis member has unveiled more details about the concept of his upcoming album, entitled Scratch My Back. Amid all the rumours surrounding the disc, Gabriel has decided to expose the artists and songs that he chose to include.
As many had predicted, Radiohead is indeed one of the groups who will have a song covered by Gabriel. Street Spirit, from Radiohead’s 1995 second album, The Bends, was chosen for the covers disc.
Gabriel, a music legend himself, will also tackle the song of another legend, David Bowie. "Heroes", which was part of a 1977 Bowie album quickly became a cult song for an entire generation of young people. The song was also used in a German film called Christiane F. in 1981.
The Montreal band Arcade Fire will also have their work recorded by the English singer. My Body Is A Cage, from their 2007 album Neon Bible, will be performed by Gabriel.
Although the songs for Gabriel’s album have been announced, it is still unknown which Peter Gabriel songs will be showing up on other artist’s releases. With this project, Gabriel’s plan was to allow his songs to be recorded in exchange for him to do his own interpretation of the other artists’ songs.
