The documentary, which features exclusive footage of the King of Pop in rehearsals before his concert series, has grossed over 200 million dollars worldwide after only two weeks of its release.

Sony, who forked out 60 million dollars to acquire the rehearsal footage, announced the latest box office figures. The film brought in $61 million in North America and $140 million worldwide.

Excluding the United States and Canada, the film made earnings of $27.2 million in Japan, $14.3 million in England, $12.1 million in Germany, $12.1 million in France, and $7.2 million in Australia.

The film smashed records at its pre-premiere on Tuesday, October 27, earning $2.2 million in North America alone.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It was directed by Kenny Ortega, the singer’s choreographer and artistic advisor. The film takes an in-depth look at the numbers Michael Jackson was planning to perform at London’s O2 Arena last July.
