Gordon Murray Goes Electric

Gordon Murray, the creator of the legendary McLaren F1, is working on urban environmental projects that will be electric.

With the T25 project nearly complete, the South African engineer announced last week that he is collaborating with Zytek Automotive to produce electric vehicles.

Called the T27, the new product will be produced with "iStream" technology, which was created by Murray.  This method allows greater flexibility for manufacturing plants, and gives the car an environmentally friendly label before it even hits the road.

Smaller than the Smart car, the T27 will use the same configuration as the T25, and will accommodate three passengers.

The project should lead to the construction of 4 prototypes in February 2011.  If Murray sets up the same plan as the T25, the concept will likely be sold to a manufacturer for external marketing.
