Cusack could never be happy with commercial films, because he prefers to take risks in his career.
In an interview with The Guardian, the actor revealed that he loves to get out of his comfort zone and make risky choices. "When you’re acting, you should get all the way into trouble with no exit strategy, and have the cameras rolling. Acting can be pretty challenging. I can’t say making a romantic comedy is challenging, but to do anything well, you have to put yourself into it," explained the star.
Cusack added that he wouldn’t do commercial films just to get more fans, and he enjoys playing roles that are a bit more demanding of his talents.
John Cusack is currently filming Hot Tub Time Machine. He will also be starring in the highly anticipated Roland Emmerich flick, 2012, which hits theatres on November 13.
