Oasis of the Seas Sets Sail

The Oasis of the Seas is on its way to the United States.

The biggest in the world, constructed at a cost of 1.5 billion dollars, embarked today (October 28) on its first transatlantic voyage to his homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The ship was constructed at the Finnish STX naval shipyard in Turku. Commissioned by the Royal Caribbean Company, it can hold up to 6 360 passengers serviced by a crew of 2 000.

The cruise line was a recent recipient of several awards given by the CruiseCritic website, which describes this vessel as the "most original and innovative boat today, where entertainment areas are like small villages in the sea."

This extraordinary boat is designed for young families with children and is described as more of a leisure boat than a cruise ship.

It will take its first voyage on December 1st to Haiti.
