A Green Olympics Set for Vancouver

The Vancouver Olympics is going green, thanks to a major automaker.

The Chevrolet Equinox, which runs off a hydrogen fuel cell, will be the official car of the upcoming games.  The cars will be used for the transport of organising committee representatives, members of the media, athletes and government officials.

The first four of the Equinox fleet were put into service today, and will soon be joined by four more.  The test fleet will be available until the end of the games.

Through its partnership with the Organizing Committee of Games (VANOC), General Motors will provide a total of 4600 environmentally-friendly vehicles, including the semi-electric Chevrolet Volt.

The Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell is manufactured in Canada.  No less than 115 models are on display in 3 major American cities to undergo consumer testing.
