Damon and Brolin in Coen Brothers Film

The Coen brothers are set to recruit two other actors for the remake of True Grit.

Matt Damon and Josh Brolin are in talks to join the remake by Joel and Ethan Coen.

Jeff Bridges has already committed to the project, and will play an American marshal, the role in which John Wayne originally starred.

Unlike the original film, the Coen brothers want to stay truer to the Charles Portis novel that tells the story of a 14-year-old girl who, with the help of a marshal and a lawyer, tries to track down her father’s assassin in hostile territory.

Damon would play the attorney, while Brolin would be the killer, reports Variety.

Filming is expected to begin in March for a late 2010 release date.

In the meantime, Matt Damon will star in the upcoming Clint Eastwood film, Invictus, opening December 11. Brolin will be seen in Jonah Hex, which hits theatres on June 18, 2010.
