Chris Rock in an Oprah Winfrey Flick

Chris Rock is set to star in the Oprah Winfrey production, Will You Be My Black Friend?

Lionsgate and Harpo Films, Winfrey’s production company, have acquired the film rights to the article "Will You Be My Black Friend?, which appeared in GQ‘s November 2008 issue, according to Variety.

It was a humorous article about the misadventures of journalist Devin Friedman as he tries to make black friends.

After a cocktail, Friedman realized that all his friends were white. He then decided to attempt to make black friends, and even used classified ads as a means to do so. However, he realized that at that stage in his life, forming true friendships was much more difficult, regardless of race.

The project is currently in development with Chris Rock to star in a role.

In the meantime, the actor can be seen in Death at a Funeral on April 16, 2010 with Luke Wilson, Martin Lawrence and Danny Glover.
