The Amish Community Welcomes Ontario

The Amish of Ontario are opening their doors.

One of the most secluded communities of Western society is opening their doors to the public. Each Saturday during the month of October, the Amish of Perth County, in Southern Ontario, will welcome visitors from noon to 4 pm.

In addition to visiting some of their houses, tourists can also discover how the Amish work.  The Amish community refuses present technology, and lives without electricity or motors and travels via horse and carriage.

Among the workshops open to the public, is a manufacturing plant that makes quilts and furniture. A farm with 150 dairy goats, which also operates without electricity, will open its doors and farmers will offer tours with carts and horses.

Perth County is located approximately 50 km west of Kitchener.
