Surgery To Treat Saliva Problems

Surgery should be considered for those individuals with saliva problems.

Researchers report that people who salivate too much should seriously consider surgery.

According to an article in Archives of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, cases of excess saliva are very difficult to treat. Some are due to physical problems, while others are from a bad connection in the brain.

There are many different types of surgeries, like removing the saliva glands or re-routing the tubes that transport the saliva.

Regardless of the type of surgery, more than half of the patients report marked improvement in their condition. To date, there is no other form of treatment.

These interventions should be considered for those individuals who have had saliva problems for a long time.
