Toyota Unveils the New 4Runner

Judging from its debut in Texas, the Toyota 4Runner was not only designed to look slick in the city, but also built to surmount obstacles.

The Toyota 4Runner has been given a makeover, improving its already solid, true 4×4 qualities, and building upon its capability of tackling obstacles and surviving the test of time.  Since 1984, 1.8 million 4Runners were sold, and more than 70% still strut the streets.

Certain design elements of the FJ cruiser have been added to the 4Runner, including sharper angles and aerodynamicity. The interior has been given a modern touch with its brighter centre console and its larger dash.

Technically, the 4Runner retains its separate chassis and bolted body, a solution that weighs heavily on the scale, but guarantees ruggedness and durability.

Under the bonnet, the former V8 makes way for a 4.0-litre V6, providing 270 horsepower. A 2.7-litre 4-cylinder with 157 hp is also being offered.
