Cook’s sudden departure from Disney is calling into question the next Pirates of the Caribbean film.
The news was announced last week, and now the film franchise may not see it’s fourth instalment, entitled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, in which Jack Sparrow searches for the Fountain of Youth.
Johnny Depp told the Los Angeles Times that he was shocked by the news, and also torn, because it was Cook himself who convinced him to take on the lead role in the films.
It is still too early to know the fate of the film, or if Depp will be convinced to stay on board without his friend. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was scheduled to be released in theatres in July 2011.
