Jeff Bridges Grabs John Wayne Role

Jeff Bridges may be working with the Cohen brothers on a remake of the film True Grit.

According to Variety, Bridges is negotiating with Paramount Pictures to reprise the role made famous by John Wayne in 1969 in the film True Grit.

Joel and Ethan Cohen would direct the project as well as create the new screenplay.  The story follows a 14-year-old girl, who with the help of a US marshall and lawyers, enters hostile Indian territory to find her father’s murderer.

Unlike the original film, the new version plans to stick closer to the Charles Portis book, and will focus on the girl’s perspective.

We can next see Jeff Bridges in the film The Men Who Stare at Goats, opening on November 6.
