Oliver Stone Shares Red Carpet with Hugo Chavez

Oliver Stone invited Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez to join him at the Venice Film Festival.

The American director and the politician walked the red carpet together at the Venice Film Festival at the premiere of the film South of the Border.

The documentary tells the story of the negative American media regarding Latin America and its leaders, and presents the reality of current life in the region.

The film’s viewing at the Venice Film Festival was followed by a standing ovation.

Since 1986, when he made the film Salvador, Stone has been interested in Latin American issues.  He has also directed the documentaries Comandante and Looking for Fidel.

The next Oliver Stone project is the sequel to Wall Street, entitled Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, which hits theatres on April 23, 2010.
