The Cranberry Juice Myth

Drinking plenty of cranberry juice does not prevent urinary tract infections.

Research conducted by Dr. Raul Raz at the Israel School of Medicine demonstrated that cranberry juice is ineffective when it comes to preventing frequent urinary tract infections.

Often cited for its diuretic and antibacterial traits, cranberries do not reduce the risk of UTIs, and doctors are instead recommending antibiotics to treat the disease.

"In light of the heterogeneity of clinical studies and the lack of consensus about the dosage used, products made from cranberries can not be recommended as preventive measures for urinary tract infections to date," stated the author’s study.
