According to People, Brown, 20, was handed a sentence yesterday (August 25) in a Los Angeles court. He will spend six months in Virginia doing community service work. Last June, he pleaded guilty to the assault charges filed against him.
The community service work will be supervised by the Richmond, Virginia police force, and will include cleaning graffiti, cutting grass and washing government-owned vehicles. The punishment will also leave the star ample time to continue his work as a singer.
Brown will also be placed on probation for five years, and must attend a domestic violence therapy programme. A fine was also set for the singer, and he was ordered to avoid contact with Rihanna for five years. Rihanna was not present at the hearing.
