Gus Van Sant Plans Next Project

Gus Van Sant will develop and direct the film Restless.

According to Variety, the filmmaker is negotiating with Columbia to bring Restless to the silver screen.

The original story was written by Jason Lew, who attended New York University with Bryce Dallas Howard.  The young actress encouraged her friend to develop the story into a film.  She will be producing the project with her father, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer with Imagine Entertainment.

The story’s plot is being kept quiet, although it it believed to be a young love story.  Filming should take place in Oregon, and the project has a budget of $15 million.

Gus Van Sant also has two other films in development that he will direct, called The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and How Starbucks Saved My Life.
