Mike Nichols to Take on Deep Water

Mike Nichols will be directing the adaptation of Deep Water.

Fox 2000 Studios has asked Nichols to direct Deep Water, a film based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1957 novel of the same name.

Joe Penhall, who has just wrapped up the adaptation of The Road, which is set to hit theatres in October, will be writing the script for Deep Water.

The film follows an estranged couple who decide that the wife is allowed to see other people. The story takes a dramatic twist when her lovers are found dead.

The last film Mike Nichols made is Charlie Wilson’s War, which opened in 2007.
