Bryan Singer To Direct Battlestar Galactica

It’s been confirmed that Bryan Singer is on board to direct the film Battlestar Galactica.

Variety reports that Singer (Valkyrie, Superman Returns) has signed on with Universal Pictures to direct the film adaptation of the series Battlestar Galactica.

The director was approached after filming X-Men in 2000 to direct the popular ABC series from 1978 and ’79 series. Singer also received other offers, but had to turn them down.

After the three-hour miniseries became such a hit in 2003, the Sci Fi Channel wanted to have the complete series, and it aired for four seasons.

Now that a film is underway, Singer wants to take part in the action and film the story about a human civilization that inhabits 12 planets. They will be decimated by intelligent robots, but the survivors will try to find the mysterious 13th planet called Earth.

The most recent film Singer directed was last year’s Valkyrie starring Tom Cruise.
