According to Variety, Basinger is currently in talks with Universal Pictures to star in the project.
The film will be directed by Burr Steers (17 Again). The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud tells the story of young cemetery worker, who encounters the ghost of his dead brother each week. The boy is struggling with feelings of guilt over his brother’s accidental death.

Kim Basinger will be marking her return to film on September 18 with The Burning Plain, her first film since 2006’s The Sentinel.
