Alice in Chains has called upon Elton John to perform a song for their album, honouring the group’s late singer, Layne Staley, reports Billboard.com.
John accepted the offer after listening to the piece only once.
Jerry Cantrell, co-founder of Alice in Chains, stated, "He’s a really warm person. He got up and gave us a couple of hugs, and said, `Well Jerry, I just wanted to tell you that I think it’s a beautiful song.’"
The album, which is set for a release on September 29, will be the first for the group featuring singer/guitarist William DuVall.
