Johnny Depp Quits Don Quichotte

Johnny Depp has quit the Don Quichotte film, being directed by Terry Gilliam.

For the last several years, Terry Gilliam wanted to make a film on the Spanish literary legend Don Quichotte with Johnny Depp, but it seems that it will not be possible, reports IMDb.com.

Depp chose to quit the film, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, after several setbacks.

In 2000, Gilliam initially wanted to do the film with Depp and Jean Rochefort. However, filming had to be stopped for financial reasons and also because of bad weather which damaged the set.  Then, Rochefort had to withdraw because of a herniated disc.

Gilliam still wanted to make the film with Depp, but it has become clear that this is not possible. Depp is currently filming many movies and will not be available until spring. However, the eccentric 68-year-old director would like to make the film before he dies.

Depp was one of the actors that helped to finish The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus when Heath Ledger suddenly died. The release date of this film in America has not yet been determined.
