Michael Jackson Products Set for Stores

Michael Jackson products will soon be flooding the market.

Jackson’s estate administrators have asked a judge for permission to sell several products in the coming months.  If the Los Angeles Superior Court agrees, shops will soon be overflowing with memorabilia from the King of Pop, who died on June 25.

The items ready for market include mobile phones, video games, memory cards, t-shirts, calendars, lighters, animals, clothing, and more.

AEG Live, the company that was bringing Jackson back to the stage for a set of concerts in London, is hoping to cash in on derivatives from the sales of Jackson articles.  The company is a subsidiary of Universal Music.  These products could represent a significant amount of revenue.  For example, Elvis Presley memorabilia still brings in $55 million in revenue each year.

Additionally, a parallel agreement has been reached between Jackson’s estate and Columbia Pictures.  The studio has acquired film footage of Jackson’s rehearsals for the London shows.  Columbia Pictures paid $60 million for the footage, planned for a future film.
