Hugh Grant Supports Website

Hugh Grant is publicly backing an Internet site that provides information on pancreatic cancer.

The actor is a supporter of the Website called HealthTalkOnline, a place where readers can find health information, particularly about pancreatic cancer, reports IMDb.com.

The star’s mother, Fyvola Susan MacLean, died of this type of cancer in 2001, following an 18-month battle.

Grant believes that it’s difficult to find this type of information when you’re suffering with the disease.  The actor remembers that when his mother was diagnosed, they were looking for information from people who been diagnosed with the same illness.  They wanted to speak to someone with firsthand experience with the steps taken following the diagnosis.

"I went on this website, HealthTalkOnline, and it was just so far superior to anything that was available then and frankly anything that’s available now," explained Grant.  He added that the majority of health related Internet sites have become too commercial.  HealthTalkOnline, however, offers advice and encouragement to the patients and their families, and allows everyone to share their experiences.
