Farrah Fawcett’s Last Moments

Ryan O’Neal is talking for the first time about the death of his girlfriend, Farrah Fawcett, on June 25.

According to Us magazine, actor Ryan O’Neal was interviewed by Meredith Vieira for the Today show, which aired today (July 21) on NBC.

O’Neal, 68, spoke about Fawcett’s final moments before losing her battle with cancer. "[Doctors] thought that she would live just another couple of hours, and she lived a couple of days," said the star of his long-time companion, who passed away at a hospital in Santa Monica, California. "So I had a bed put in the room for me. And I just lay by her side."

Just before she died, the actor mentioned that she gave him one more smile. "[Farrah] just looked at us with a slight smile," explained O’Neal, "And then all the machines flat lined. She was gone."

"[In her final moments], I said I’d see her soon, and I see her every day. I write to her in my journal," concluded the actor.
