The band has been forced to cancel upcoming performances due to the health problems of Yauch.
Adam "MCA" Yauch has been diagnosed with cancer. According to People magazine, a tumour was discovered on his salivary gland.
Luckily, the cancer was found early. After surgery and several weeks of treatment, the singer is expected to make a full recovery. Additionally, the cancer was limited to one region and did not affect his vocal chords.
The Beastie Boys have cancelled all upcoming shows and have delayed the release of their next album, The Hot Sauce Committee Part I, which was previously scheduled for a release on September 15. The band was also set to perform at Montreal’s Osheaga Music Festival on August 2, but will not be appearing.
Yauch stated, "It’s a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because I was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later."
