According to the New York Post, the 23-year-old actress was hospitalized because she tried to take her own life.
A friend also revealed that insiders close to the star had also called authorities for help, after Barton partied hard for three days and began to display suicidal tendencies.
The same source added that Barton’s recent personal setbacks have caused the star to seek comfort in drugs. "She’s in very bad shape. She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery," revealed the friend.
The hospitalization has kept Barton off the set of her new film, Homecoming.
