The Hollywood Reporter announced that Portman has landed the primary female role in a film adaptation of the comic book Thor.
Portman will play Jane Foster, Thor’s first love, and will star opposite Chris Hemsworth, who will play Thor, the god of thunder. Actor Tom Hiddleston will play god of mischief, Loki.
Thor is an arrogant warrior who, after reigniting an old war, is forced to live on Earth among humans.
Kenneth Branagh will be directing the film that is set to open at the beginning of next year.
In the meantime, Portman will star in New York, I Love You, in theatres October 16. Then, on December 4, she will be featured in the film Brothers.
