Variety magazine confirmed that country singer and star of Dancing With The Stars, Julianne Hough, has signed on as the lead actress in the Footloose remake.
She will star alongside Chace Crawford in this new, more mature version of the 1984 original film which starred Kevin Bacon.
Filming will begin in March and will be directed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical). The film will be produced by Dylan Sellers, Neil Meron and Craig Zaden, who were also involved in the original film.
The new Footloose remake will hit theatres on June 18, 2010.
