Billboard.com has unveiled the artist line-up for the July 18 The Mandela Day Celebration concert commemorating the South African politician.
Among the names that are booked, we find Aretha Franklin, Wyclef Jean, Queen Latifah, Josh Groban, TLC, Cyndi Lauper, Jesse McCartney and Angelique Kidjo.
The event, which was organised by 46664, will take place at New York’s Madison Square Garden, in parallel to other concerts going on in Great Britain, South Africa, Spain and Norway.
Founded in 2002 by ex-Eurythmics member Dave Stewart, 46664 was named after Mandela’s assigned number in prison.
Tickets for the New York show vary from $50 to $350 and are already on sale.
