The 9-year-old actress, who was discovered in the film Slumdog Millionaire, wrote her memoirs in a book called Slumdog Dreaming: My Journey to the Stars, which is headed to bookstores on July 19.
Since her appearance in the Danny Boyle-directed film, Ali has been all around the world. However, along the way, she experienced some personal setbacks, such as when her home in Mumbai was destroyed and when her father was hospitalised after being beaten by the police.
Publishers have revealed a few details from Ali’s book, saying, "(Ali) tells her own incredible story, from playing marbles with her friends beside the sewers of Garib Nagar in Mumbai, to dancing along to the Bollywood films she and her family watch on their old television set."
