Reformation of The Stooges

The Stooges could be reforming shortly.

Iggy Pop told The Australian newspaper that reformation of the legendary group, The Stooges, is not impossible.

Pop recently met, for the first time in 30 years, guitarist James Williamson who was involved in recording Raw Power, the mythical album released in 1973. "So we talked about doing something together, ‘Raw Power’ would be the repertoire,” explained Iggy Pop.

During a recent tour, the Stooges refrained from playing songs from Raw Power without Williamson.

In January, another guitarist in the group, Ron Asheton, died from a heart attack. He participated on the album, The Weirdness, released in 2003 and was also present on their recent tour. He also played bass on the 1973 album.

After Asheton’s death, Steve Jones, former guitarist of Sex Pistols, offered his services to the group in an interview with NME.com. "If they wanna carry on, I’d gladly step into his shoes," Jones said. "It’d be a laugh. You can put that out there. If they wanna carry on, I wouldn’t mind playing a bit of guitar."
