Samuel L. Jackson and his production company, Uppity Films, have joined forces with Andras Hamari’s H2O Motion Pictures to acquire the rights to Andrew Mwangura.
Mwangura was a professional negotiator between pirates and the owners of hijacked ships off the coast of Africa.
Jackson would play Mwangura, a journalist and sea engineer who lead the Seafarer’s Assistance Program, a non-profit group that offered humanitarian help to all merchant mariners. Mwangura was not paid for his work as a negotiator, though he earned money as a freelance journalist.
Samuel L. Jackson is currently filming Iron Man 2 in Los Angeles. The release date is set for May 7, 2010. He will also be heard as the narrator of the film Inglorious Basterds, hitting theatres on August 21.
