Earlier this week, Kiefer Sutherland headbutted fashion designer Jack McCollough during a reception in New York.
While New York authorities were more lenient with the actor, the Los Angeles police could be taking the matter more seriously.
It was reported that Sutherland is on five-years probation after being charged with drunk driving in Los Angeles. One violation could lead to imprisonment, since it was crucial that he respect all laws.
"Our office intends to contact the NYPD and New York prosecutors to review the incident and determine whether Mr. Sutherland violated probation," said L.A. city attorney spokesperson, Frank Mateljan.
While a hearing is pending in New York, Sutherland is not being sent to jail, nor is he restricted from travelling.
