Billboard.com has announced the return of the Divas performance special, to be presented on the VH1 network on September 17.
The last version was seen in 2005, and some of the concerts featured several renowned female singers, including Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Chaka Khan and Diana Ross.
To generate some enthusiasm for the event, VH1 is inviting the public to vote online through the VH1 Divas Website to choose the divas that they would like to see in the 2009 edition.
A VH1 spokesperson pointed out that younger singers like Lily Allen and Adele could bring a breath of fresh air to the show.
