The Strokes Get Back to Work

Members of The Strokes are back in the studio and want to make a totally different album.

After taking a break for a few years, members of The Strokes are ready to roll again. They are now working on their fourth album, which is said to be all about rock, although with a different approach. “We’re recounting ourselves being in the studio together and writing music. We have a lot of stuff so far but nothing is… there’s no date, nothing is set enough to say that,” Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture told BE Interactive last month.

Recently, singer Julian Casablancas revealed that the album’s sound can draw parallels to music of the 1970s, reminiscent of Thin Lizzy and Elvis Costello.

The release date of the new album remains undetermined, however it may be out in between now and the end of 2009. Fraiture added, "I hope that we will do something different from our previous album. We’re trying to. That can be good or that can be very bad."

The latest studio album The Strokes released  was 2006’s First Impressions of Earth. Since then, drummer Fabrizio Moretti (Little Joy), guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. and Nikolai Fraiture (Nickel Eye) have been keeping busy with solo projects.
