Not only is the star dealing with his divorce, but now Gibson is facing a lawsuit filed by his Passion of the Christ co-writer, Benedict Fitzgerald.
Last year, Fitzgerald filed a lawsuit against the film’s producers, claiming that they lied that they could not pay him more, insisting that their budget was between 4 and 7 million dollars.
After examining the files, it seems that Gibson and his partners had lied about the budget, which was actually $30 million. Fitzgerald believes that he should get a larger portion of that budget, and is asking a Los Angeles court to investigate the situation.
Fitzgerald was paid $75 000 and had to borrow $200 000 from Gibson to cover expenses while working on the film. He is asking to be paid a fair wage for the film. The Passion of the Christ earned $600 million at box offices worldwide.
